If you like the idea of Apple’s AirPlay for iOS devices and have wished that there were something similar for the Android users out there, Xbounds might be the perfect thing for you. This little dongle apparently connects to the Android device via WiFi. Once that connection is made the content on your screen is mirrored out to another larger screen in the office or living room.
The connectivity is fast enough that the content on the external display be it video or games and other stuff is shown in in real time. That is particularly important if you want to play video games on a larger screen. The demo video at the end of this shows the developers playing Angry Birds and other content and what happens on the phone happens at the same time on the larger display.
The Xbounds device supports a lot of features and has tech that allows the user to zoom in and still get clean and clear graphics. This is a very cool little device and will let you sit on the couch and shoot that video content out to your TV. The Xbounds also supports multiple player gaming. The dev kit for the Nexus S and the HDMI dongle needed sells for 998 euro and the consumer kit will sell for 99 euro according to Al Sutton. The Xbounds system uses Dream Chip inside and supports encrypted WiFi networks.

Alec Baldwin may not be running for office, but he may yet affect policy decisions, God help us. The comically volcanic actor is now explaining at length his ejection from an American Airlines flight, and throwing in his lot with the nerds trying to liberate gadgets from aviation regulations: He blames his removal, in part, on “questionable guidelines” governing devices like his iPhone.
Baldwin’s AA spat involved the actor being told repeatedly to stop playing the iPhone game “Words with Friends,” him complying only briefly, and him eventually cussing out one or more airline staffers. His flack told the New York Times tonight that the incident really boiled down to an “overzealous flight attendant, who was selectively enforcing questionable guidelines.” American has said it was enforcing FAA rules that prohibit activating gadgets once the airplane door closes, even if it’s sitting for long stretches right at the gate, as in Baldwin’s case. Baldwin, in a separate article on the Huffington Post, said “you’ve got to fly overseas today in order to bring back what has been thrown overboard by US carriers in terms of common sense, style, and service.”
Going overseas, as Baldwin suggests, can net travelers more liberty with how they use their digital devices; Kazakhstan’s Air Astana, for example, is basically a free for all, while American, United and US Air have all thrown people off their planes in phoning incidents.
American airlines, as a group, should be liberalizing. Baldwin’s sky rage aside - American says he stormed into a bathroom stall and then became “extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language” – reason is his ally when it comes to forbidden iPhone indulgence. Without a single reported accident involving interference from an electronic device, the FAA justifies its gadget lockdown by citing an inconclusive 2006 study.
The best argument in Baldwin’s favor is probably what was going on in American Airlines cockpits while the TV and movie star was being thrown out of a cabin: The airline’s pilots are allowed to use iPads, which replace paper manuals and aeronautical charts. “The F.A.A. said pilots… would not have to shut off and store their iPads during taxiing, takeoff and landing because they had demonstrated that the devices would not impair the functioning of onboard electronics,” the Times reported. Just don’t let them install Words With Friends on those things. That, apparently, could lead to serious trouble.
Meet Carter Emmart. He has spectacular hair and an unbelievably cool job title: Director of Astrovisualization at the American Museum of Natural History. And on Wednesday night at 7pm, he’s bringing his badass 3-D Atlas of the Universe to Gizmodo Gallery.
Emmart’s job is to take the latest discoveries about the universe and figure out how to show translate them into visions people can understand, using advanced imaging technologies and computational modeling. That’s a mouthful. Some of the concepts tackled by Emmart and his team at the AMNH’s Hayden Planatarium tackle are immensely complicated. They need to find a way to explain it to the average joe while retaining rigorous accuracy.
So on Wednesday night Gizmodo Gallery we’re going to plug Emmart’s huge map into the massive 80-inch LED Screen in our home theater, and Emmart is going to drop some knowledge on us. And on you, too, if you know what’s good for you.

Lenovo is reportedly readying an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet for launch by the end of 2011, running Google’s new platform on NVIDIA’s 1.6GHz Tegra 3 quadcore chipset. The mysterious new 10.1-inch slate offers 2GB of 1,600MHz DDR3 memory, Engadget‘s tipster claims, along with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner intended not only for biometric security but also to double as an optical joystick for navigating lengthy webpages and ebooks.
There’s also a rear-mounted camera with an LED flash – resolution of which is currently unknown – and a USB Host socket for plugging in peripherals like keyboards and mice, as well as external storage. Lenovo has supposedly clad the whole thing in a “Special Fusion-Skin Body” which is similarly lacking in detail; however, we’re guessing it’s some sort of easy-grip coating that cuts down on scratches.
No information on potential price or name has been released, though Lenovo has targeted both consumers and enterprise markets with previous tablets from its stables.
Lenovo certainly wouldn’t be alone in planning on using Tegra 3 for a tablet. ASUS has already unveiled its Eee Pad Transformer Prime, pairing a Tegra 3 slate with a detachable battery-equipped keyboard dock, while more recently both HTC and Acer are believed to have their own versions in the pipeline.

Lenovo stuck the U300s with a 13.3-inch, 1366 x 768 panel, which is likely to rub some shoppers the wrong way, given that the MacBook Air has a 1400 x 900 display and the Zenbook UX312 steps up to 1600 x 900 pixels. Truth be told, the pixel count wasn’t a problem for us as we scrolled through different websites and watched 720p videos at full screen. Still, all of the other Ultrabooks with such low-res displays (namely, the Aspire S3 and Toshiba Portege Z830) start at two hundred dollars less.
As for viewing angles, we had more luck dipping the display backward than we did forward. If we were on an airplane and the guy in front of decided to lean all the way back, we’d be stuck with an almost unwatchable washed-out picture. We did have an easier time watching from off-kilter side angles, though the contrast ratio grew too severe as we got close to a 180-degree angle.
And, Lenovo included Intel Wireless Display, something we hadn’t seen on an Ultrabook until now. In case you haven’t been following along, it allows you to mirror your display on a TV or monitor, which includes streaming 1080p video. While we’ve seen Best Buy bundle some laptops with the necessary adapter, in this case you’ll have to pay $100 or so for a box like this that will interface between your TV and WiDi-enabled laptop. Without re-treading old ground too much, we’ll remind you guys that every time we’ve tested WiDi we’ve been impressed by the fast, painless setup and fluid streaming. If you were to put your laptop right next to your TV you might notice that the images on the two screens don’t match up, but assuming you keep your notebook out of sight, you enjoy some pretty smooth video playback.
The SRS speakers on this machine deliver acceptable, innocuous sound. Rap songs sound slightly tinny, sure, but the sound system handles other genres, such as pop music, well. Still, it doesn’t come close to the alarmingly loud Bang & Olufsen speakers on the UX31. The speakers here will get you through a Lost marathon and a one-person dance party, but it won’t rise above the din of your next house party.
Performance and graphics
If you get the same $1,495 configuration we tested, you’ll be treated to a 1.8GHz Core i7-2677M CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. And we think it’s pretty fair to say this guy plays in the same league as other Ultrabooks like the MacBook Air and Zenbook UX31. Its PCMark Vantage score of 9,939 is sandwiched between what we saw from these other two laptops, and the margin is less than 600 points in both cases. On the other hand, while its 3DMark score of 3,651 nearly matches what we’re seeing on the Portege Z830 (full review coming soon), the Air and UX31 are in a class of their own, with respective scores of 4,223 and 4,209. This despite the fact that all of these Ultrabooks pack Intel’s integrated HD 3000 card.
And how does that JMicron 616 SSD fare? In the disk benchmark ATTO, read speeds peaked around around 250 MB/s, while write rates topped out at just under 200 MB/s. In practice, the system felt plenty fast, though benchmark junkies might not be inclined to shrug off the fact that the UX31′s SATA III hits read / write speeds of 550 MB/s and 500 MB/s, respectively. Rest assured, though, that’s still worlds better than what you’ll get with the S3, whose 5,400RPM drive maxed out at 80 MB/s reads and 75 MB/s writes.

There is probably no other program that is so widely used in the office as Microsoft Excel. The benefit of Microsoft Excel is that people of all abilities can use it, whether you are using it for a simple task such as data entry or for a more advanced task such as creating pivot tables and charts from a large data set. I used Excel for years before realizing that I wasn’t tapping into more than half of its capabilities. The day I discovered the pivot table is the day that I truly felt I was a master at Microsoft Excel.
Before learning how to create Pivot Tables, you need to ask yourself IF you need a pivot table. What is the purpose of a pivot table anyway? A pivot table is an easy way to summarize and display data. A pivot table is most valuable when it is used with a large data set. Say, for example, you have 10,000+ lines of data. There is no easy way to see a summary of that data unless you put it into a pivot table or a pivot chart.
To better understand how a pivot table would be handy, let’s pretend that we have a data set comprised of household budget info. For each purchase someone in the household makes, they enter the data into an excel spreadsheet, filling out data such as date of purchase, amount, store name, which household member made the purchase, etc. While this may seem like a rudimentary way to capture data, that’s because it is, but the magic is in the pivot tables that you create from this data!
There are 4 “fields” or “sections” of a pivot table. The first section is called the “Page field”. This field acts like a filter and will only display the information related to what you choose to filter. In our household budget example, one of the columns we filled in was which househould member made the purchase. If we want to only look at the items purchased by one member of the household, we would put this column heading into the page field, and then select “husband” or “wife” or whatever other options are available based on what we entered into our spreadsheet under “household member”. We can select any of our columns from our spreadsheet as a page field, so if we want to look at all household member’s purchases, but only want to examine items purchased at Wal-mart, then we would put the “store” column heading in the page field and select Wal-mart.
The second section is called the “Row field”. This is where you decide which data items you want to see. If Wal-mart is still selected as our page field, then the row field will display other information from our data sheet. You can select date of purchase, household member, etc. The third section, the “data field”, is probably the most important field as it will show you the corresponding data to the row you’ve selected. The “data field” is typically a number or dollar value. Using our example with Wal-mart as the “page field”, let’s set our “row field” to display the date, and our “data field” to display the amount we spent. Now we have a chronological history of how much we’ve spent at Wal-Mart (or any other store, which we can select by changing the “page field”). If we want to further sort the data, we can use the “column fields”. We can use the “column field” to display the household members, and then not only do we have a chronological list of what we’ve spent at Wal-mart, but now we can see which family member spent how much each day.
The best part about pivot tables is that they are created by clicking & dragging column headings, so you can instantly format the pivot table multiple ways to obtain lots of different information. You can also make a nearly infinite amount of pivot tables or pivot charts from one data set. Ready to get started? The best way to master pivot tables is to practice using them. You can find sample data sets online by googling “excel pivot tables” or just create your own data set, such as our household budget example, and then experiment with a few pivot tables. I think you’ll find, as I did, that once you master the pivot table, you will soon feel like a master of Excel.

Hewlett-Packard has announced that former Verizon Wireless SVP and CIO John Hinshaw has agreed to join the company to serve as its executive vice president of Global Technology and Business Processes, a newly created position.
Hinshaw most recently worked at The Boeing Company, where he was vice president and general manager of Boeing Information Solutions. His job there involved delivering information solutions to the U.S. government, among other tasks.
He will report to recently appointed HP chief exec Meg Whitman.
He’ll also join the company’s executive council on November 15.
In addition to Hinshaw’s appointment, HP also announced that it has promoted Craig Flower to senior vice president and CIO (he will report directly to Hinshaw).
Flower, who has been with HP since 1984, will be responsible for ‘data management, application architecture, global business intelligence, sales, and product development and engineering applications’ according to a press statement.
The news comes just days after the announcement of the departure of Phil McKinney, CTO for HP’s Personal Systems Group (its PC division, if you will). McKinney said he would be retiring to advise other companies on innovation.
Another executive, EVP and chief strategy and technology officer Shane Robison, also recently announced that he would be retiring at the beginning of this month.
Whitman has one hell of a job ahead of her trying to turn the giant HP ship around and orchestrate a successful reorganization with a vision that safeguards its future.
As always in times of transitions, expect more executives to join – and leave.
Allman had worked at the plant for about 15 years, most recently as a truck driver. He had come under scrutiny for allegedly unsafe driving practices and was suspended for three weeks due to an accident, a disciplinary action he was contesting.
He was known to African American leaders in the Silicon Valley as a man who espoused peaceful conflict resolution and encouraged other black men to be responsible fathers. But he told friends that he believed he was being undermined at work because of his race. Coworkers also said Allman believed that they were ganging up against him. He opened fire at a predawn safety meeting at the quarry, shortly after his shift began.
Killed were John Robert Vallejos, 51, and Mark Munoz, 59, both of San Jose, as well as Manuel Guadalupe Pinon, 48, of Newman.

My phone broke down recently. I was really depressed. Seriously though, don’t think I am exaggerating. I was left without a phone for three days and I was freaking out. Those who have been in my situation would know how it really feels. So anyway, even though I did finally get my phone back, I didn’t want to be in this situation ever again. Therefore, I decided to get myself a cheap phone that would act as a spare just in case my main phone gives up the ghost again. This is one of the phones that I considered.
The phone that I am talking about is the BenQ-Siemens A38. The phone is quite old (by gadget terms that is). Nevertheless, the phone is small enough. Its smaller than some of the phones you might get now. It measures approximately 104 x 46 x 19 mm. Didn’t I tell you it was small? Whoever said that all old(er) phones are big, huge and bulky. The phone is very light too. It weighs a mere 90 g. You won’t find phones this light nowadays sometimes. The phone comes with a very simple but sleek design. The keypad numbers are evenly spaced out so no problems when typing.
A 96 x 64 pixel screen is mounted on the A38. It measures 1.4″ approximately and is capable of displaying 65 thousand colors. The screen is definitely small. What did you expect, a huge screen? This is an older phone mind you. Yet, I think even for an older phone’s screen, this is a little too small. A decent sized screen (fro me) would be 128 x 128 pixels. However, the screen has a very good color display capability (oddly). I don’t know why the screen was given that color display capability, considering its size. But for what its worth, the screen does display things clearly and colorfully. The screen works fine both in the outdoors and indoors. It isn’t too reflective.
If you are looking for fancy features, you will be definitely disappointed. For starters, I couldn’t find any Internet options on this phone. Therefore, I have to assume that there isn’t any. I couldn’t find any other connectivity features either. Hence you are stuck with the preloaded media on the phone. It isn’t all that great but some of the wallpapers do look nice. The phone has very limited internal memory that is shared between the preloaded media and texts.
For a spare phone, this phone is good. However, since I use my phone primarily for Internet, this phone did not suit my needs. I leave the decision to you on whether to buy it or not.

Skype has become a popular mode of communication due to its cost and convenience. Skype allows users to communicate freely via video chat, which makes it convenient for talking to friends and relatives overseas, and across all parts of the world. Skype also offers low rate phone calls to landlines for a fraction of the cost of traditional phone services. The ASUS Videophone SV1T provides PC free communication abilities that feature a vibrant color and touch screen. This article will review of the ASUS SV1T video phone by looking at the pros and cons.
Pros of the ASUS Videophone Touch AiGuru SV1T
• Wi-Fi capability- The Skype videophone has built in Wi-Fi that works on all standard 802.11g Wi-Fi connections.
• Free video calls!- Skype has made talking to friends and relatives who live far away a much more personal experience than talking on the phone. The video phone is ultra-portable and allows you to talk to virtually anyone with a Skype account anywhere you have an internet connection.
• Ease of use- The interactive touch screen is incredibly easy to use, and is user friendly. The large 7″ screen is great for interacting with another Skype member, but I would have liked it to be bigger, at least the size of a netbook screen, or 10″.
• Rechargeable battery- The rechargeable battery allows this unit to become ultra portable, which is perfect for moving about your house while still holding a conversation. The portability is great because it makes it so you do not have to be confined to your computer.
• Screen resolution- The 800X480-screen resolution will not disappoint, it is bright and vibrant, which is perfect for Skype calls.
Cons of the ASUS Videophone Touch AiGuru SV1T
• Battery life- Battery life is only rated at 20 minutes of talk time, which is very low. Skype users will be disappointed by the low battery life due the average time of talking to a friend or relative is much longer than 20 minutes.
• .3 MP Digital Camera- The camera that is built into this unit is incredibly outdated, and could stand to be at least 1.3-2.0MP.
• Price- For a price of around $270, the Touch AiGuru SV1T is expensive for what it does. The poor camera resolution is what makes this product not worth the outrageous price.
Overall
Overall, if you are looking for a wireless Skype phone with video capabilities than the Asus Touch AiGuru SV1T is for you. However, this product lacks a long-lasting battery life, an affordable price, and an updated camera.

Introduction of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130
The Sony Company has a lot of digital cameras to their credit, which are handy and of great functionality to a procurer. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130 is one of the products of the Sony Company; at an initial look on this device, the first that would come to the mind of a procurer is that it features more of external controls. The device is packed full with automatic preset that enhances quality camera shots. Diminutive and dense, the device hysterics into a procurer’s pocket properly, as its lens withdraws fully flush with the obverse panel. The DSC-W130 camera is packed which a lot features into its emaciated structures, because it offers 4x ocular zoom, a big 2.5-inch LCD monitor and an 8.1-megapixel CCD.
Zoom Lens of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130
The 4x optical zoom lens covers a range of 32-128mm on a 35mm camera, with a somewhat wider utmost wide angle setting to boot, which is better than that of a point-and-shoot camera. The Cyber-shot DSC-W130 is equipped with a Sony’s 2x Precision Digital Zoom that is responsible for maintaining image value despite the digital improvement. Otherwise, a procurer can facilitate Smart Zoom, which merely crops from the hub, giving a procurer in so far as 5 x digital enlargements at the lowest resolution setting. The Sony Company included face detection on the Sony W130 digital camera that can sense up to eight faces in a sole frame. Additional amusing and exceptional features on the W130 digital camera include in-camera editing of common photo mistakes, a bevy of helpful preset Scene modes, and a handful of user-adjustable options such as AF area, and a Sony’s Steady Shot Technology.
Storage and battery of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130
Memory Stick DUO and PRO DUO memory cards are supported by the Sony digital camera, but a card does not come with the device. An internal memory of 15MB is equipped in the device. I would suggest that if a procurer wants to use this digital camera for video, he or she should endeavor to purchase a PRO DUO memory card of about 4GB.
A rechargeable lithium-ion battery supplies power t the Cyber-shot DSC-W130 digital camera, which comes with the camera. It advisable for a procurer to purchase an extra battery in order or him or her to have a spare.
Shooting of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130
Shooting under usual circumstances and in the standard restriction, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130 is attractive uncomplicated. The functions of the device were easy to get to in the Record menu and also in the different Settings menus, and even in the Home menu. A neophyte photographer will get use to the camera after a little while. The Home button introduce by the Sony Company is to facilitate the cordial relationship between the camera and the photographer. For directly point-and-shoot taking photographs, most procurers would find it easy and functional.
The timing of the DSC- W130 is quite facilitating although there are some difficulties in some areas. Whenever a procurer wants to change the mode setting, the camera is a little bit sluggish, because it displays such vital information on the screen. The Shutter lag pace is 0.31-second and 0.39-second lag times at wide angle and telephoto, correspondingly.
LCD Monitor of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130
A big, bright, 2.5-inch color LCD monitor wraps almost all of the camera’s back panel, leaving just sufficient room for a tiny ocular viewfinder window and the little selection of controls grouped along the right side. Despite the fact that its surface is extremely reflective, the DSC-W130′s LCD is still straightforward to see under bright sunlight circumstances. Nevertheless there is no modified LCD brightness regulator; the Display switch on the back panel does present a brighter display for outdoor shooting. The Sony DSC-W130 digital camera also features a Grid-line display mode that divides the portrait into thirds flat and perpendicularly, to help a procurer line up portraits.
There are more to what this camera offers procurer, after purchase the more usage of this device will give more understanding to the functionality of this device. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130 is good for both the neophyte and the professional photographers. Check your local shop for adequate pricing.

Was kann Social Media erzielen?
